Does someone here has an idea and experiences how one could use the good old Fujitsu Scansnap S1300 (without i) with a Mac with Apples M chip and Devonthink 3?
Fujitsu resp. Ricoh has ceased any support for this device. The software Scansnap Manager is not longer available and Scansnap Home does not support the S1300. The device works flawlessly. I do not want to put it in the garbage.
I feel your pain. I tried years ago to find a way to make my Scansnap’s work with upgraded OS’s when all this “bricking” by Scansnap and Fujitsu started. I decided the hoops too complicated and not worth the time. Pitched both of my Scansnap’s and bought a Brother scanner which runs well ever since.
There may be a way with VueScan app, but after playing with it I decided not to pursue it. I can’t remember why. Maybe this works for you in your newish computer.
Edit: I was curious about VueScan for your scanner. They say their software works with it. I know no more.
Same here. My experience war VueScan requires too much effort for fine-tuning until an appropriate workflow is being established. And if an unusual paper format or a poor original has to be scanned, the trouble starts all over again.
Yes it works - or at least, it has been working in 2020/2021 - when I have tried it, but as said above.
So, at the end, I will switch to a new scanner.
Is it the Brother ADS-1300 that is satisfying you?
I use every day a ScanSnap S300M which is quite outdated (bought it in February 2010, just found the receipt in DEVONthink!), but still works perfectly with DT3.
I am currently still running macOS Ventura on my M1 Macbook Air, as I fear that a macOS upgrade might make it stop working, but now I am two major releases behind and should start to plan about updating to Sequoia… and hopefully the ScanSnap software will still work!
This is what I run currently:
I do keep the software around in case it will stop being made available for download by Fujitsu, and now Ricoh, but at some point in time I presume that its software lifetime will come to an end, sadly.
Hi, finally found the Scan Snap Driver installation files at Fujistu Software Downloads: ScanSnap : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive
It’s a 1,2 GB file, but it works. Ricoh does not provide the file anymore. Now my ScanSnap S1500M is working again with Devonthink integration like it used too. I’m not buying a new scanner als long as this one still works… Thanks for all your suggestions. If anybody has problems when setting up a new Mac System and needs the driver feel free to ask me here in the forum.
