I’ve just noticed that the Philosophy plugin no longer seems to return results. Anyone know what they’ve changed at plato.stanford.edu and whether there’s a manual edit I can make to the plugin to work around? I know it’s a Red Queen’s race trying to keep up with all the under-the-hood changes to search implementation on these fast-moving resources.
That being said, Google has and continues to break things, making search results inaccessible outside their clutches. Bing to some degree, as well.
Here’s a quick Standford plugin (though @cgrunenberg would likely be able to improve on it):
plato.stanford.edu.plist.zip (951 Bytes)
… and results…
Thanks so much! Strangely, though, that version behaves the same for me as the built-in one, returning no results:
It must be something at my end. But what?
That doesn’t appear to be my plugin.
You need to unzip my attachment and put the .plist file in ~/Library/Application Support/DEVONagent/Plugins. Here is another search…
Weird! I re-ran the same search and it worked this time… I must have reverted to the old plugin without noticing. Huge thanks for going to the trouble of rolling the new plugin; for anyone curious, the key difference from the built-in version is that the LinksMatching string is *plato.stanford.edu/search/r?entry=/entries/* instead of *plato.stanford.edu/entries*. (There’s also no longer a KeywordsUrl string, which in the built-in version is http://plato.stanford.edu/search/searcher.py?query=_agentQuery_, but that doesn’t seem to add anything; I did try changing the http:// to https://, but it didn’t have any effect.)
You’re welcome.

And that is certainly true ![]()
