Having your cake and eating it too

I think I understand the difference between importing and indexing into DEVONthink Pro 3. But - what if I want to do both?

I have a Documents folder on my iMac and an Archive folder in Mail. I want to have the files there and within DEVONthink. So that I may send a file to either folder on my Mac and have a copy (not a reference) sent automatically to corresponding Group in DEVONthink. Better, if I change a document in, say, my Documents folder and save it, I want the corresponding document in DEVONthink to be updated.

Is this possible?

Thanks.

This is not possible without some utility or other means of automation.

This is possible via indexing, not importing… or via some automation mechanism.

PS: Importing and indexing is covered in the built-in Help > Documentation > In & Out > Importing & Indexing.
