How can I change the language of chat suggestions (or set it to German)

Hi there,

my documents are in German and I tried the pre-defined rule “Chat-Vorschläge anwenden” but everything which is added or changed is in English. I would like to change this to German output. Is there a chance somewhere? Since the rule refers to chat suggestions I assume there is a hidden prompt somewhere.
I am using Ollama and tried the latest gemini and chatGPT offline models. Asking via chat the output is in German (as is the prompt I set).

Thanks

The language of the document is used but the automatic recognition of the language might fail. Which model and provider did you use? Especially small open-source models have a very poor support for international languages too.

Ok somehow it works with different documents now in German. Weird.

I would love to know though, if there is a possibility to set this rule to German language somehow.

I am using gemma3:12b and gpt-oss:20b.

I will try to inspect that document. Asking the chat it states it’s in German, is there another way I can see what is being set there?

Add the Language column e.g. to List view. What does it show for the problematic documents?

That’s it. It’s set to English. Will change it and try again. One last question, the price seems to be set to $, is there a way to change it €?

Does the document contain both languages? Or could you share a zipped example, e.g. via PM? Finally, all custom metadata fields (including prices) can be changed via Settings > Data.

Sorry for the late reply. Some of the documents show a different language as OCR. I had them OCR’d with a third party tool, which was set to German. Obviously that did not work as expected. It seems that rerunning the OCR Process with Devonthink fixes this, although there is a warning, that the quality might be worse. I guess this will be the solution in the future to have Devonthink doing the OCR job directly.
Thanks again for your help on this
