How do I change the order of my notes?

I am building up a collection of notes for a big writing project. I need to put these notes in the order in which they will appear in my eventual article, re-arrange, insert new notes, etc. as I proceed.

How do I do this?

Sophie,
Go to the folder that contains your notes (can be the whole database) , then in the menu bar View>Sort>Unsorted, or Right click>Sort>Unsorted. You will then be able to re-arrange your documents as you wish.
This setting is per folder and per View (as List, Columns, etc.), so make sure you are in the correct place to see it work…
