How do I start a scan and save it afterwards with a keyboard shortcut

Hi,

I already searched the FAQ and forum for this specific question, but didn’t find anything. As the title says I would like to use a keyboard shortcut for starting scans and saving the folder after the scan is complete. I know that I can activate the keyboard control in the macOs settings, but they can only be activated globally and make navigating through websites using the tab key a little bit awkward. Keyboard shortcuts for rotating scanned images and other functions in the Imports folder would also be nice.

Thanks in advance for your help,
Tobias

Welcome @trettstadt

There are no such shortcuts available for scripting the interface in DEVONthink nor any plans to add them.
Why do you need such functionality?

Hi,

thanks for your reply! I prefer the keyboard, because I am much faster with it than when I’m using the mouse. But if it’s not possible to implement it I can do without the keyboard shortcuts.

Best regards,
Tobias

I do not really understand what you want to achive. I just put the paper into my scanner and press the scan button on the scanner. Then the ocr’ed pdf apprears in my inbox. No need for a mouse or a script at all.

Hi @vinschger,

it was a little bit of trial and error, but I now set up the scan button on my scanner and a smart rule for the target folder that performs OCR, changes the file name and moves the document to the global inbox. I think that is a good solution. Now I just have to handle manual duplex scanning. Before I was using the feature in DEVONthink’s import tab that allows me to merge two scanned documents into one. Do you know if there is solution for that?

Thanks and best regards,
Tobias
