I just created a new database on my DEVONthink To Go instance and populated it with some documents. When I got home, I tried to sync it to my DEVONthink Pro instance through the Bonjour connection I normally use. The new database was not picked up for sync automatically, and I also could not select it for syncing in DTTG’s sync locations list. The toggle switch remained greyed out even after all other changes (in other databases) were synced successfully.
How do I get a newly created database from mobile onto my desktop instance?
This is on a current DTTG version talking to DT Pro 3.9.8.
This has been discussed before: You can’t push a database via Bonjour sync. A client can only pull a database.
In DEVONthink To Go…
Go into Settings > Sync: Bonjour and…
- Enter a mandatory password
- Leave the Port empty.
- Enable incoming connections
In DEVONthink on the Mac…
- Go into the Settings > Sync and enable the Local Network sync for the mobile device.
- Select the sync location and double-click the database in the Remote section of the Databases list on the right, ideally saving it to the Databases folder in your home directory.
- After the database has been imported, disable the sync location for the mobile device.
Back in DEVONthink To Go…
- Disable Bonjour in the Settings.
- Go into the Sync: Locations and tap the Bonjour sync location to the Mac.
- Enable syncing the new database.
