Is there a way to select the whole text in a table (cell) of an RTF doc? ⌘+A selects everything and a triple click only selects the paragraph. Specifically, how do I select the text in the blue box when the cursor is in it? Thank you.
AFAIK the text engine of macOS (used by DEVONthink, TextEdit etc.) doesn’t provide a shortcut for this case.
Thank you @cgrunenberg I suspected that.
Do you know of any other ways to achieve this? Perhaps with a script? If you put a “marker” (a special character) at the beginning of the text and at the end. Select text between the special characters. Unfortunately, I know absolutely nothing about scripting. Thanks!
Unfortunately it’s not possible to change the text selection via AppleScript. Well, maybe via GUI scripting but that’s cumbersome and prone to failure.
What’s the point of the selection of the cell actually? E.g. to copy it or to modify it?
Mm, I was afraid you were going to ask that.
Well, I have many such “boxes” in RTF texts. They usually contain additional information that is not relevant for reading the main text. That’s why I “shrink” the text in the boxes to font size 1. The box is then still there (visible), but it doesn’t interfere with reading the main text. If I need the box, I enlarge it again.
I understand if you don’t understand that.
Edit: Ah, to answer your question. I have to select the text to make it smaller.
