The default opening method of markdown file is typora, not this …
i want to known how to hide it, i don’t want to see it annoying icon anymore
It’s a global setting in the Finder and a question that has been asked over and over again. In general, it’s a good idea to use the forum’s search function first.
Thank you, i tried to set the default open method in Finder, but it seems does not work.
@BLUEFROG Excuse me, Could u please help me how to set it.
If you follow the advise from @chrillek and search for “default opening application” you will find one of many posts like the following: Setting default opener applications
Thanks for your reply, but the icon hasn’t changed, i restart the DT many times after set the default opener.
You need to click on "全部更改…”.
Stephen
i did it…but it’s not work.
If the instructions from Apple below do not work, then at this juncture probably best to give a call to Apple support.
Did you restart the Mac itself?
I also made such an attempt. still not work…
I even uninstalled the software displayed on the icon…
I found that
it’s run well on DT4, so i think it’s a bug on DT3 @BLUEFROG
Thank u so much, but my issue is not like this.
For my issue, icon in Finder shows correctly, but can’t be modified in DT3.
Another odd thing is that after opening the file with DT4, the icons displayed correctly in DT3… I can’t explain why
You should not have both DT versions installed on the same machine at the same time.
And it is most certainly not a bug in DT3. We’ve been over this issue so often, and it was always resolved by setting the correct value in Finder. Of course, than only one version of DT was installed on a machine.
Got it.i’ll uninstall the DT4.
Thank you for your patient reply and selfless help.
I seem to have the same problem. DTP3 shows the RStudio MD icon for markdown files even if I have selected another app as the standard app to open MD files, e.g. textedit.
Finder MacOS 15.5
DTP 3.9.11
We don’t control those icons. They’re received from the operating system. What icon do you see in the Finder?
In the finder (see screenshot) the icon is shown as on the desktop, but differently than in DTP3. Really strange. Do not know if I never noticed this in the past or if this has been introduced with one of the last updates of macos or DTP. no big issue for me. just wanted to report it as it seems to be not an isolated issue of @King But if it’s macos that’s controlling this I assume there is nothing your developers can do to fix it. So we will wait for Apple to fix it (within the next years
)
