Great Question!

That should give you the option to add the shortcut to your own.
It’s called “New Journal Entry Shareable”

I am not familiar with how to modify the shortcut you created. It does seem like it has potential allow for the creation of pen based program which might be imported into DTTG . The attraction of the ipad was a pen based activity but somehow no one has connected a workflow that allows easy integration to DTTG or DT

Oh pen based? I have no experience with that. I am almost entirely about text entry. Sorry.

Shortcuts is a weird beast but I’ve taught myself enough to get it to do what I need, mostly by a lot of reddit surfing and taking shortcuts apart.

@BLUEFROG once sent me a cool shortcut that allowed you to dictate a new note and do a bunch of other neat tricks. I tried it for a while and lifted some ideas for other shortcuts but there is something about the tiny spaces of time waiting for the screen to show up for me to type into that was better than preparing to dictate the thoughts I had to get down.

I have tried to make a proper Shortcut for quick notes on mobile, too, and arrived at a similar conclusion. The built-in Dictate Text and Ask for Input actions are not designed for typing or dictating an appreciable amount of information.

I eventually settled on using Things 3 (a paid app) as the inbox for my mobile notes. Its Create To-Do With Quick Entry Shortcut action is highly responsive, and can be neatly launched with the action button on the latest iPhone Pro. The (titles of the) notes can be displayed on a home screen widget, which is really nice. Sync through the Things Cloud is reliable. When I’m back home, I review and edit these notes on my Mac and put them in the right place.

This workflow has so far worked perfectly for me. It’s not exactly a journal/daily note, though, as I prefer having one note for each idea or topic that comes to me.
