As in the title, as of November 2024, I can no longer sync my desktop Devonthink databases with my Synology server via WebDAV, with both running on LAN.
I have tried resetting multiple times, and still get the error:
20/2/2025, 10:34:55 pm: The Internet connection appears to be offline. Not connected to Internet. (NSURLErrorDomain -1009)
I am definitely connected to the internet, and can ping the Synology server. I have tured off the firewall in the Synology, and double checked the user accounts and folder permissions.
Interestingly, my iPhone’s Devon to Go continues to sync with the Synology vvia WebDAV with the same settings.
Anything in the NAS’s log? How do you connect to the server – locally (i.e. with a private IP address like 192.168.xx.yy) or through a public IP address, possibly using a DynDNS service like synology.me?
Can you connect from Finder using the same URL that you use in DT’s sync settings?
What are the SSL/TLS compatibility settings in DSM, and does relaxing them to the intermediate state change anything?
DT and OS versions?
I connect with a private IP address, a 192.168.xx.yy
I can connect from Finder using the same URL (copied and pasted).
SSL/TLS settings in DSM are set for intermediate - this was a good idea, thank you. I have tried backwards compatibility and modern compatibility, but unfortunately no difference in being able to sync.
CHecking the log on DSM, Devonthink does not even seem to be trying to connect to it. I can see my connection through finder logged.
I am have SMB enabled, AFP off. I have tried enabling AFP, with no improvement in sync.
SMB and AFP are unrelated to WebDAV. The error messages seems to come from Apple’s framework, not from DT itself. So there’s probably an underlying network or permission issue.
You could try opening a support ticket.
Thank you, you’ve helped narrow things down - it is some sort of a network issue. Tested connecting via VPN into my network, and to my surprise, it syncs! But not when I’m actually logged in locally.
I’ll leave it at that for the moment, at least I can sync now.
Could. But not what was said.Trying not to read minds. Whatever. What jumped at me was the suggestion of the person doing some sort of login manually, which doesn’t prove anything. I’m could be and probably, as usual, wrong.
