Import from Evernote - Legacy Version Required, but No Longer Supported by Evernote

In May (?) 2024, Evernote discontinued support for its legacy version. DT will not begin the import process unless Legacy Evernote is installed. What is the workaround?

The only possibility is to export notes or complete notebooks as .enex files and to import these afterwards.

Occasionally it is possible to use the Internet Archive to navigate back a year or more to find an archived version of the developers’ website from which you can download the apps that were on offer at that earlier time.

I have exported to enex using Evernote 10.9, but DT wants enex created by Evernote Legacy. While I can download and install Evernote Legacy, Bending Spoons will not let me use Evernote Legacy to login to my account; instead, it says something like, “Please upgrade.”

Use File >Import > Files and Folders
Instead of File > Import > Files From Evernote

Where are you getting this information?

In DT3, I go to File > Import > Files from Evernote and this dialogue box pops up:

Here’s the text version of the screenshot: 6/19/24, 14:23:38: Notes from Evernote Legacy version of Evernote is required.

  • That’s the message when trying to use the File > Import > Notes from Evernote, correct?
    • If so, that is not the same thing as trying to import an .ENEX file exported from Evernote 10.x.

Thanks, BLUEFROG. Until I read your post, it never occurred to me that I could import an .enex file by going to File > Import > Files and Folders and selecting an .enex file.

As you noted, I was mistakenly stuck on the notion that File > Import > Files from Evernote and importing an .enex file were the same thing.

You’re welcome
