Import mail and delete

To experiment with DT4 email import, iI have done so. However i. don ‘t want them in DT4 so is it safe to delete them in DT4 and empty trash in DT4 or will that mean them all being deleted in Mail?

DEVONthink imports independent copies, therefore deleting doesn’t affect Apple Mail.
