In the "import path" AppleScript command, what "from" is used for?

In the documentation, "from is described as “The name of the source application.”.

If set, what DT will do with this information?

It’s used to retrieve and store e.g. the URL from a browser, basically what DEVONthink’s browser extensions, bookmarklets and services do.

Alright. Not sure what this means exactly, but I guess this is more for internal use?

It was used for PDF services in the past but was also a feature request as far as I remember.
