Inbox badge that never goes away

My global inbox always shows one more item on the badge than I can actually find in it. If I have two items I can see in the inbox the badge shows 3, if I have no items in the inbox the badge shows 1.

Does anyone have any suggestions for where to look for this hidden inbox item? I’m stumped.

Ah, thanks for the pointer Greg. I had an empty “Annotations” group that was causing the badge to light up. Shame on me for not doing a better job of searching existing threads.
