Inboxes: This is kind of embarrassing since I've used DT for so long

I should have asked this 10-15 years ago, but one thing I’ve always been confused about is the inboxes. Here is how it looks like:

We have the global inbox, then “All inboxes” which disappears if I turn on “Unify inboxes” (I usually have it off) but I don’t understand what this is, and then there is INBOX. What are “All inboxes” and “INBOX” for?

Also, I find it a bit strange that an inbox have “Tags” and “Annotations”, to me it would have been more natural if they were outside “Inbox”, but that’s just me I assume.

According to the screenshot these are just groups but they’re not created by DEVONthink. If they’re empty you should be able to remove them.

Neither the global inbox (a database) nor local inboxes (groups) can be deleted.
