I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong or if this is a bug.
DT Version 4.0beta3
macOS 13.7.6
I have some files in a Sync folder. I added some screenshots in a folder. I tried to Update Index Items, but it didn’t pick up the new folder. So I created a new group and used Index Files and Folders to index the screenshots.
Everything seems fine until I tried searching the screenshots. When I search DT gives me files that the search text does not appear in. For example, if I search for authority it gives me one screenshot that contains the word and another screenshot (image) that does not contain the word. With other searches, DT returns multiple images that do not contain the search word.
Any ideas?
Did you enable the option to transcribe images on import (see Settings > Files > Import > Recognition) or transcribe the images on your own (see e.g. Data > Recognition menu)? Otherwise only the name and metadata of the images are searchable.
Yes, Transcribe Text & Notes in Images is checked in Settings
It is finding images with the search text. The problem is that the search results are showing images that do not contain the search text.
The metadata of these images might match the search. A screenshot of Settings > AI > Transcription would be useful.
From what I’ve seen none of the images have any metadata and the file names are img_date_time
You could try the search prefix text:
to ensure that only the transcribed text is matched but nothing else.
Good suggestion; however, I’m still getting images that do not have the search text.
Is there a way to rebuild the index just for that group (folder)?
Which search term did you actually use?

I converted to PDF using Data > OCR > to searchable PDF and it worked correctly that way. I was hoping with version 4 I could leave them as images.
By the way, thank you for your help!
Could you upload such an image or send one to cgrunenberg - at - devon-technologies.com? Thank you!
I sent them to your email.
