Indexing vs Importing

I am new to DT and have some questions: (Mac OSX)

  1. If I import files to DT and then work exclusively in DT adding new files - these new files are then not automatically copied back onto my Data disk. Should I then use DT as my exclusive working environment and delete all files from my Data disk?

  2. Will my DT drive be backed up by time machine? (I use chronosync to sync my desktop with my laptop)

  3. I am using DT pro office, does this mean I can sync my DT database on my desktop with my laptop? How?

I would appreciate help with this as I am studying and do not have a lot of time to investigate.
