Hi,
I created an intelligent group using a condition on creation date lower than 1.1.2020. Please see screenshot. As you can see not all documents match this filter. Any ideas?

Smart groups aren’t filters (like Tools > Filters), they simply return all items that match the conditions, e.g. tags on your screenshot. But the tags (or groups) can be still expanded in List view.
Smart groups are not just for documents. They can also match tags, groups and other smart groups.
To match only documents, use the criteria Kind is Any Document. (I don’t know the german terms.)
You can still use the various filters in Tools > Filter > […] when a smart group is selected, if you like.
