Is there anyway we can make the "line-height" of each row in DevonThink 3 list view larger?

Hi, there,

I love DevonThink 3, but the “line-height”, namely the space between two rows in the list view is too small, is there anyway we can adjust that into more “Finder-like”. I really like Finder’s interface on that. Also, I think Finder’s “Group by tags” is a very good implementation of combining list view and tags/labels, I hope DevonThink could implement it in the future.

As far as I know you can change the text size viewing in Settings → General → Appearance. But I haven’t found a way to change the line height directly.

You might want to read this thread from last year:

Where BLUEFROG links this blog post:

There is no separate setting for line spacing in the interface, but you can adjust the size of text in the item list (View Text Size) or the sidebars (Sidebar Text Size) in General Appearance. This also adjusts the spacing of elements a bit. Try to increase it.

If you tried that previously, it’s worth trying again, since the 3.9.7 release updated this a bit. From the release notes:

When setting a larger View Text Size via the General > Appearance preferences, the thumbnail icon scales better, the vertical alignment of some List view columns is more consistent, and better line spacing improves readability. This also applies to the Search and See Also & Classify inspectors.

For tags, you could try showing a Tags column and/or sort by tag.

Thank you for your sharing, although I’m aware of larger text in the setting. I was referring more to the comfortable line spacing like how Finder implements.

Here’s the line spacing on Finder

In comparision, I’d say DevonThink 3 is kinda choke me in terms of its narrow line sapcing.

I’m not sure if this has anything to do with the coding behind DevonThink 3, which makes it hard to provide an option for a more comfortable or more dense list view? From my point of view, an option to enable a Finder-like comfortable line spacing list view or a dense list view could solve this issue while still make every user satisfied.

In the meantime, I have (almost) gotten used to the line spacing. What I still find hard to read are the search results. For my old eyes, there’s just too much text too close together.

I wish there was an option to hide the name of the database. Or perhaps an option to make the difference between file name and database clearer?
