linking from RTF to file types that are not recognized by DT

Hi,

I’ve been working with a RTF and creating links to other files in my database. I’m having trouble linking files that are read by a DNA sequence editor named A plasmid Editor (ApE). When I make the link to an .ape file, it does not open the program and file, DT just displays the file icon. Is it possible to have the link open the file?

Not directly from the RTF document. Links in a document to another document in the database navigate to to the target document. Once you see the target document, you can open it externally multiple different ways (right-click, Open With…, the menu ‘Data>Open With…’, put the Open Externally icon in the toolbar, etc.).
