Not someone who post & created account to report this BUG that cost me whole day’s worth of work. Took 1 day to realise work done of DEVONthink MBP that was synchronised to DEVONthink to go has disappeared, very upset. Had to visit local pub to cool self before posting, plenty of self control not to deploy colourful words. Found BUG that can be reproduced every time.
Create a markdown file synchronise DEVONthink and DEVONthink to go, select this file on DEVONthink and DEVONthink to go, add some text to file on DEVONthink, make sure DEVONthink to go still has that same markdown file selected not opened another file, synchronise, you will notice additional text entered on DEVONthink not updated on DEVONthink to go, REAL BUG happens when user does not notice this and edit same file on DEVONthink to go and synchronise, ALL modification on DEVONthink will be replaced by recent edited DEVONthink to go, no error or warning or duplicated files, user just LOST all work done on DEVONthink! You should warn customers of this BUG.

Sorry to say I am very disappointed after whole day’s work disappeared, post on forum 1 time and will move away from DEVONthink. I use iPad more than MBP, DEVONthink 4 and DEVONthink to go 4 are subscription models therefore won’t be exploring that option. Good luck.
Sorry to hear about this incident. A few things come to mind…
Was the document in DEVONthink To Go constantly in editing mode?
Why would you have the same document open for editing simultaneously on both Mac and mobile?
If your Sync > Conflict settings on both Mac and mobile were set to duplicate documents, some state of the document potentially have have been preserved.
While it’s unknown why you’d have the same document open for editing on both Mac and mobile, this behavior is not seen in version 4 of our apps. At a minimum, the autosave function marks the document as modified and the other device receives the changes. That being said, manually saving via Command-S in DEVONthink or periodically leaving editing mode in DEVONthink To Go is still strongly recommended. While sync would not be instantaneous (if you’re not leaving the document), changes are transmitted within 30-45 seconds. And on an iPad with an external keyboard, you can initiate a sync via the Data menu or hotkey.
Version 4 of both apps support versioning so some state of edits would have been preserved.
Can’t speak for OP although sure he’s doesn’t have both desktop and mobile version in edit mode at same time. Myself have iMac as workhorse whilst often sync to iPad Pro to continue working in garden area or outside house. Had added portion missing couple of times after sync and edit on iPad Pro, now am sure it’s similar to what’s reported above. Drove me crazy not knowing what happened. Likely related to refresh issue reported 4 months ago DTTG 3.8.11 sync refresh bug still not fixed. Also on bandwagon of non-sub apps, rely on DT3 DTToGo3 till they die.
