What ”import script”?
Simulated mouse and keyboard moves using a tool called sikulix. The problem is the exact same delay occurs when I am not simulating a click–when I am going through the process manually.

Macs are well known for their stability and performance. Why would I want to reboot?
We advocate rebooting devices at least once a week. It’s not a matter of stability. If you turned on your Mac and never touched it, letting no applications run, you could leave it on indefinitely. But you’re using the machine, therefore processes are running, resources being consumed, etc. A process may fail to stop correctly, memory could not be released properly, ports could stall, etc. These things would be compounded if the machine is never rebooted.
Ok. I understand. I’ve never rebooted my mac on purpose and I run virtual machines, databases, and other demanding apps (i.e. web browsers with >40 tabs) regularly for > 10 years now without issue.
I don’t believe the OS X system has the issues you describe. However, you are correct about certain applications. I’ve had Microsoft Excel for Mac crash a multitude of times and had to restart that program (without having to reboot OS X). Mail sometime will exhibit weird behaviors–i.e. search doesn’t find what I know is in the mail program. That is why I purchased Devon think–to have a reliable way to get at the messages I know are in the database. And so far it works. Thank you.
I just “quit” DEVONthink to restart it and see if that would help, but it ended up crashing. I’ll send crash report in next message.

Ok, I just re-opened DEVONthink and clicked on bulk. I looked at the attached picture for 1 minute 50 seconds before it populated. I suppose I’ll try to restart mail now and see if that helps.
So after it populated it showed messages that haven’t been imported since Aug 28…which means my import script has not been “waiting” long enough before hitting the import button on this folder…thus missing all these messages.
I don’t know how many messages…because the log only shows when a duplicate is imported. Apparently there were 11 previously imported emails. The rest are in now.
If only there was an easier way to get all my email into DT3 without having to click…wait…click…wait…click…wait manually. The script interface is reliable, but it seems the delays are unpredictable so I’d have to default to 2 minutes between clicks and that would result in an hour long script—and thus I wouldn’t be able to use the system for that hour either.
I appreciate all your help in trying to get this figured out.
So I redid a clean start of DT since the crash and I also restarted Apple Mail (and I’ve already imported the messages since 28 Aug 20). And then I click on Bulk and it only takes 20 seconds to show an empty import view.
Maybe the culprit is Apple Mail? Perhaps I should restart Apple Mail every day and this might not happen…
Anyway…it sounds like 10+ days of email messages (under 300 messages) causes the import function of DT (or the interface between Mail and DT3) to slow way down.
Note: I have not restarted OS X, only the affected applications.
Please let me know your thoughts on how to prevent another troubleshooting evening with the same problem in 12 days.

I stand corrected. I’ve occasionally had issues with Macs needing a reboot…and I needed one because other system wide issues were happening. Good call bluefrog. Thanks, J
