Markdown files open in Calibre? [SOLVED]

As I try to use DT and DTTG more, not only to store and search content, I noticed that Markdown files with the ending “*.md” are shown as “E-Book” kind in DT.

I have no idea why this could be.

When I double-click on them, the App “Calibre” opens because of this.

Is there any way to fix this in DT?

When I try the same with “*.txt” files, DT opens “TextEdit” instead, which would also be perfectly fine for Markdown files.

Associations between file types and default apps are handled by Finder. Has been discussed and answered here multiple times already.

No, because it is not a DEVONthink issue and it’s one that has been discussed here often. You need to select an .md file in the Finder, press Command-I and choose your desired application in Open With. Then press the Change All button.

Great many thanks, @chrillek and @BLUEFROG !

I thought that “E-Book” could be something that DT does.

I now used Finder and “Get Info” and then “Open With” to change this to “iA Writer” with “Change All”!

This worked like a charm!
Also it seems to open-in-place, which was a requirement.

Sorry for the disturbance and thanks for your help.

You’re welcome. And DEVONthink just gets that kind of information from the Finder/operating system.
