Master.PList can't be opened

I just installed V4 on Mac. I’ve also got DTTG on an iPad. The log shows “master.plist can’t be opened because I don’t have permissions” for two files: … Webstore.dtCloud/inbox/master.plist and … Documents/db/untitiled.dtCloud/inbox/master.plist. Per other suggestions elsewhere, I’ve granted total disk for the app, restarted it twice, And still get this message.

Help!

Where is this sync store located, e.g. Dropbox, WebDAV server or local sync store?

I think it’s local. How would I know?

I looked at Sync tab. There are 4 listed, 2 iCloud, 1 Untitlled, 1 Webstore. The last 2 are both local.

Where in the filesystem are the local sync stores located? On an external drive?

Well, I think it gets a little more complicated.

I won’t go into the reasons, but earlier this year, I bought a new MacPro (M2 Ultra), and migrated from old, Intel, MacPro. In the process, I needed to create a second account on the new machine.
This is my primary, working account, and under which I upgraded to V4.

And that’s the brief version. The upshot of this is:

  1. I’m accessing the data on the same, M2, machine, but in a different account;
    so the 2 messages I’m getting are because I’m trying access the DT data on the original
    account from the second account;
  2. It looks like when I went back to the original account (M2), I had to use a seat license to run V4. I’m not sure, to be honest:

I hope this makes sense.

So you migrated the original account then created a new account to use as the primary account?
If so, then no DEVONthink wouldn’t have access to the resources in the old account and would need to have a seat activated for it.

I needed to create the second account to complete the migration with the intent of eventually reverting to the first, but just couldn’t find the round-toit I needed.

So, with regards to the seat license, even though I’m the only person on this machine, each account on this (let alone the other half-dozen or so I’ve got) requires it’s own license? Well, seems a little questionable, but I can live with it - I’ve got a seat I can still play with. And to be honest, I don’t use DT as much as I used to - these days mostly to recall archives I’ve captured in the past. Occasionally to migrate sites from Devonagent Pro.

But this still leaves the question of how to access the data under the other account (or user), but on the 1. same machine, 2. iCloud?

No, that’s not what I said. I said to “activate a seat”, not get a license. A seat applies to a machine and is recorded that way.

But this still leaves the question of how to access the data under the other account (or user), but on the 1. same machine, 2. iCloud?

No, you should not use iCloud… or Dropbox or Google Drive, etc. It is well known and documented you should never put your DEVONthink databases in any cloud-synced location or you could irreparably damage them.

Copy them onto a thumb drive or transfer them via the /Users/Shared account.

Thank you for the clarification on the seat / license issue.

So, does the issue about migrating DT databases carry over to migrating DT applications as well, as in my case migrating from the Intel Mac to the M2 Mac using Migration Assistant?
