Menubar isn't Showing Up when Clicked

Hi,

When I click on the menubar for the main DevonThink app, it doesn’t show the window anymore. Is there something that I can reset so that I can have it show again? Thanks!

Only clicking the Dock icon will open a new window if there’s none. But new windows can be also opened via the File menu or via the contextual menu of the sidebar.

I’m not sure we’re talking about the same thing. I’ve recorded what I am experiencing. Let me know if I’m off…

That’s the menu extra of the Sorter. Which version of DEVONthink and macOS do you use?

I’m experiencing the exact same issue that AHaghgoo shows in his video. I am running Sonoma 14.5 with DEVONthink Version 3.9.6

Hi, yes, thanks stuartf98. I’m sorry, I completely missed the reply that cgrunenberg sent last week.

I’m also currently on macOS 14.5 (23F79) and using DEVONthink ver. 3.9.6

Can you send a copy of the console log, the easiest way to do this in DEVONthink select the Help menu and whilst pressing the option key select “Report a bug”. If you could add “for the attention of Alan” at the top of the email.

Also do you have a menu bar manager installed, such as Bartender?

Have just sent you a copy of the console log, per your instructions.
FYI - I dont have a menu bar manager installed that I know of… but I’ll double check and report back asap if i installed one and don’t remember doing so…

On what hardware? A Mac with a notch?

…no notch.

Thanks for sending the log files. Can you try the following:

  • Quit DEVONthink 3
  • Open the Terminal application, copy and paste the line below and press Return
defaults write com.devon-technologies.think3 UCCVideoNoteRestore -bool false
  • Open DEVONthink 3 and try to access the Sorter in the menu bar.

thanks for the quick reply. I did as instructed, but Sorter in the menu bar still won’t open when clicking on it…

I’ve emailed you the resulting updated log reports

Sorry I copied the wrong key for the defaults command, try this:

  • Quit DEVONthink 3
  • Open the Terminal application, copy and paste the line below and press Return
defaults write com.devon-technologies.think3 UCCTakeNoteRestore -bool false
  • Open DEVONthink 3 and try to access the Sorter in the menu bar.

I’ve been following along and can attest the @aedwards solution worked for me too. Thank you!
