Using Devonthink 4, when adding files from cloud folder, some files (type PDF) are missing after indexing has completed
Welcome to the DEVONthink Forum.
Does the Log give any pertinent messages?
Which “cloud” service? Are the files in that folder “offline” or “online”?
Missing from where? The “cloud folder” or DEVONthink?
Edit: I have not yet moved to DEVONthink 4, but version 3.9.8 of the DEVONthink Manual, page 56, has a section entitled: “Indexing Cloud-Synced Folders” which may give you clues. My hunch is same passage in the DEVONthink 4 version.
I am using iCloud. All files are ‘online’ and there is no error in the log file corresponding to the missing files.
- Missing from where?
- If “online” those files might not be available to DEVONthink? DEVONthink mostly expects files to be on the local disk.
- Is your computer set to “Optimise Disk Space” with Apple iCloud?
- Anything in the DEVONthink Manual help?
The files are missing in DT. I am not using “optimise disk space”. The manual does not provide help for this issue.
A screenshot of the indexed items in DEVONthink and the same files in the Finder would be useful.
How did you locate the file in the Finder?
by manual comparison
What is shown in the Path field of the Generic info inspector for that file in DEVONthink?
And it‘s neither in DEVONthink‘s trash nor in any other group/database?
The file is actually in the trash! Hence I re-inserted file back to the original location.
But in the trash are also a number of files, which I can only remove from the trash when I remove them completely, then they are removed from the file system as well. Removing them by selecting “imported files only” does not do anything.
They’re not “removed from the filesystem”. They’re put into the system Trash.
Move them into a temporary group in your database and deal with them from there.
