Most strategic use of labels and stars

Has the community figured out best practices for these important built in filters?

  1. Labels
Do people use the meaning associated with the colors or do something else? Any consensus or neat ideas?

  2. Other than things being terrible or great, I’m not really using a 5 star system. Like previous question, how are people using these?

Finally, how does this fit in with your approach for tags (and aliases)?

I use the Labels to indicate task status
(pending/active/waiting/completed)
By using Labels instead of Custom Metadata, the status can be accessed in DTTG

For me, labels indicate what I’m supposed to do with a given document. Blue stands for “more research”, Orange for “missing information”, etc. No label if a document does not require special attention.

For me, I use labels to show the status of a piece of writing or blog post. First draft, Final draft, Proofread, Posted on Web.

I don’t use star rating. I briefly played with it to show a scale of importance - but it was too messy and I stopped. I use a simple important tag now.
