Mystery orphans/feed shenanigans

I had some problems between the latest OS update and the latest Devonthink update. They were both maintenance upgrades so I didn’t think much could wrong. But somewhere in there permissions for Script Editor were turned off. My primary script kept spinning out, and I had to go through multiple force quits until I finally figured that out.

Things seem mostly on track, but somehow in the process this started appearing in my inbox:

A looooooong time I played with the rss feeder, but to my knowledge I’ve never had an active feed in any of my databases. Now this keeps showing up, and multiplying? (I do have one of those overly touchy track pads where I sometimes find my system telling me that I’ve just dragged something, but I surely didn’t mean to.)

Any hints for how to find the origin and get rid of these multiplying orphans will be very much appreciated.

Regards,

Erik

  • What other device are you syncing with?
  • What is your Sync > Conflict settings set to?

I don’t currently have a sync happening. One was set earlier, but that computer has been offline since at least a week before this problem started, and it’s been months and a database re-organization since I’ve done a sync. In fact, I need to set that up again, but want to try to resolve this problem before I do.

My primary script kept spinning out

There is no information on what this is, but if DEVONthink crashes mid-process, it’s not unusual for it to orphan files. So what is this script, what does it do, and where did it come from?

Also, I’m not sure what Script Editor’s permissions have to do with this.

I wrote it/adapted it years and years ago. It copies the selected text and renames the file with that selection. As for what Script Editor has to do with it, ticking “Script Editor” in this box fixed the spinning out problem:
