Hm. Installed Kepler, lovely UI and full of goodies!
4 databases are working fine - but one refuses to recreate the group structures - it just shows the inbox, all smart groups, and then all item type groups. What can I do?
I’m loath to delete the database and resync, but if need be…
Hi Christian, I’m using Bonjour. In “Activity” the “Synchronizing” task progress bar shows an initial little blue, then gets stuck for hours without moving. (BTW, thanks for helping me on a Sunday…)
This would explain the described issue as the sync seems to be incomplete. Was anything logged to the log in DTTG 4 or in DT 4? Is this a very large database?
Hi Christian, nothing logged in either DT 4 or DTTG 4. On the mac, the database, with ca. 20k items, many of them images (webp) is clean (has been verified & repaired).
I deleted the database, and started to re-sync again. What happens, always, is the following:
All files seem to download correctly from the Mac
Some groups, a few dozen, appear on the iPhone - but mostly, these are like, the hierarchy flattened out, with no “parent” groups
I have to force close DTTG 4 every single time, re-open (on the iPhone), and try “Sync” and go to the activity screen every time. Then I see a small blue 2 or 3mm in the progress bar.
After about 5-10 minutes the DTTG crashes, and apparently nothing has changed (number of items synced, groups)
On relaunch DTTG, it runs a verify on this database and doesn’t say there is anything wrong.
I have turned sync off for the other 4 databases, trying to avoid any extra activity
Don’t know what to do anymore…
Seems like Bonjour disconnects, or something…
EDIT: last try, the blue progress bar went ⅓ of completion, then DTTG crashed. I saw no change in the items, groups from previously.
Puzzling situation - that database has MANY tags (> 2k), and > 10k images, mostly webp.
I tried syncing via Bonjour, and also via WebDav (on my Synology), doesn’t work. All other databases sync fine via both methods. I verify and repair this one database, it passes verification. And it works normally on my mac.
Thanks Jim! - an update: I created (for the 1st time) a CloudKit sync, and it seems to have worked - much faster than Bonjour or WebDAV, and apparently synced everything correctly - I am still double checking. No idea why, but surprised…
Mike
EDIT: no cigar yet. Not everything was synced. Running sync again…
I haven’t seen your support ticket yet, but I would not just start throwing sync methods at it. It’s best to step back and examine the situation instead.
