Nested lists and external markdown editors

I’m investigating the use of external editors - Typora, Panda - to edit markdown held in DT and I’m having trouble with nested lists not nesting. Closer inspection shows that Typora and Panda both save nested lists indented with two spaces but DT needs 4 spaces. As I understand it the MD standard requires 4 spaces but on the other hand I’d be surprised if Typora didn’t conform.
More importantly, can I work around this?

No there is no workaround. It’s best to work within standards instead of app-specific variants.

Shiny Frog are adamant that they’re standard compiant. I guess they’re just using a different standard. That’s the problem with standards, everybody makes their own version.

Typora at least has a tab variant preference.
