New window focus/z-order?

I often right click a database or group in the left pane of DT on macOS and choose the option to open it in a new window. In DT 3, that new window would always come to the foreground at the top of the stack/z-order/focus or whatever the proper term is for that. In DT 4, that new window is always shoved to the bottom of the stack. Is there any chance of getting that to work as it did before? I would certainly prefer any new window I request to come up right in front of me to use it rather than having to cycle through the windows to find the new one. I don’t know if this is a regression or a deliberate change of design choice or what.

We’ll check this. Do you use macOS 26.x?

I can confirm the behavior described by Phileosophos; Tahoe 26.5

Yes sir, Tahoe 26.5.1 as of today.

Tahoe 26.5 - I don’t get a new window when I open a different database, but since I started with DT 4, I’m not familiar with previous releases. I don’t know that I would necessarily want a new window - maybe … I just scroll to the bottom of the left window and click on the newly opened database and go from there. I rather like it this way but, as the saying goes, YMMV…

Does File > New Window open the window in front of the current window? It does over here and the code of both ways (sidebar contextual menu or File menu) is absolutely identical. But we added a workaround to the next release.

Yes, I find using File > New Window from the menu at the top does indeed always open in front of the current window. Yet right clicking a group name in the left pane and choosing New Window does not. Weird.
