Nip to another document and back

Here is the use case:

I have a document open I am working on and need to quickly view another for reference.
I want to open this document in a window so I can quickly look at it, find what I want and then close this window to return to the document I am working on.
I can open a new window (shift-cmd-N) then I have to either use find, navigation or the ‘go to’ to bring up the document. I can then close the window (but it seems over kill opening a full window).
Is there a way to quickly open another document in an editor window without losing focus on the document I am working on?
I am sure there is, but I can’t find a quick way to do it. Thanks

  1. Go > To Document
  2. Type to find.
  3. Hold the Option key and double-click the document.

No problem. I use the function many times a day.
