No OCR when ScanSnap sends file to DT (with DT not running)?

Hi there,

I have the following issue: I have ScanSnap Home setup to scan a document and send it to DT4. When DT is already open it takes the PDF, does the OCR and presents me with the dialog to enter metadata and finally save the file as “PDF+Text”.

But when DT4 is not yet running ScanSnap sends the file to DT4, the app is opened and the PDF is placed in the global inbox and no OCR happens. Hence the document kind is just “PDF-Document”. Is that how it is supposed to work? Any preferences I can tweak to get the OCR to run when DT4 is openend by ScanSnap Home?

It would probably help to diagnose the issue if you provided screenshots of your DT and ScanSnap settings

I tried to get around that, since it’s in German :wink: And I thought the settings are alright since it works when DT4 is open and does not when DT4 is started by ScanSnap. Anyway, if it helps, here’s the screenshots

Is DEVONthink 3 still installed on the same machine?

Not any more. I think I moved the DT3 App to the Trash a while ago…

In DEVONthink, hold the Option key and select Help > Report Bug and we can look at the logs.
