I’m a history student, and I download a lot of PDFs of old books from Google Books. Then I want to OCR them, but I’m rarely able to. I’ll set it going, and it churns through the whole thing, and then at the end I get a message in the Log that says “The OCR operation failed,” but with no information about what went wrong. If I save a few pages of these files and OCR them, then it works without any problems. Is there anything I can do?
I don’t know. First of all, what do you see in the Console (Applications > Uitlities)? Secondly, depending on the size, you could file a report and add a sample as an attachment or if it is too large I’ll return instructions on how to upload it.
