Hi, I’d like to view files from differing databases simultaneously, but I seem to be stymied in doing this; i.e., whenever I access a second base, I exit the first. Is there a way to view files from differing databases simultaneously? Thanks, Michael Maser
Works fine for me.
Specifically, in the main DT window, locate the desired file in Database A. Use the “Open” command to open it in its own window. Then, back in the main DT window, locate the desired file in Database B. Use the “Open” command again. I now have three windows open: the file from Database A, the file from Database B, and the main window (which is open to Database B).
You can also use the File → New Window command to have all of Database A in one window and all of Database B in another.
TY, yes, these both work for me! And I found another way in messing around for 2 mins : I am a fiend for using ‘Workspaces’ that typically have 6-8 file-tabs open; on one of them, I just went under the ‘Go’ top-menu tab, in which I went to –> To Group (which is a synonym for DB) and clicking on a different Group/DB, it opened this in the main window without hampering access to any of my Workspace tabs, enabling me to toggle between DBases.
I don’t know why i never cracked this nut before, but these are time-savers for me.
Thanks again. - MM
A group is not a synonym for a database. They are distinct elements within the ecosystem.
- A database is the top-level parent and contains groups.
- Groups are children of a database and can only contain documents and subgroups.
Ahh, I need to do a bit more reading. I stand corrected, gracias. - mm

It’s something people often misunderstand. I had the same conversation on a support ticket this morning.
