Is it possible to password protect a file within a group or if not, can you at least password protect an entire group?

Nope, but there’ve been multiple requests for more granular and secure password/encryption protection. Some people store databases in password protected disk images as a workaround.
I mostly want to be able to secure certain files on my ipad/iphone version of devonthink.
Maybe a password protection of the whole application would do it.
