Pdf text to speech?

I’m not sure this is unique to DTTG but I can’t seem to use text to speech with PDFs. I have it set to ‘selection’ in accessibility, it works on a web page in Safari. But with a PDF, if I make a selection then choose ‘Speak’ from the context menu, I get a display of little vertical lines but no sound.

This is a known bug that has to be addressed by the makers of the PDF library. We have already filed a bug report.
