I have a PDF which I can import and it is shown in the document panel of a DEVONthink window, but (with double clicking) it does not open in its own window.
All other PDFs (so far) open as expected in there own window.
Running DEVONthink 4.1.1 on macOS 26.1
PDF is attached.
1423020011_01EN.pdf (16.4 MB)
After import, works here with double click, right-mouse clicks on both “Open” and “Open with Preview”. Maybe restarting DEVONthink or the computer will have an effect. Wild guess, but that’s what I do with “weird” issues.
It’s a big file for a one-page PDF, actually. I tried compressing the file with the app PDF Squeezer and it resisted all attempts and stayed stuck at only somewhat less than 17.2 mb–unusual for that to happen for un-encrypted PDFs. Dunno why compressing didn’t work.
I “printed” a new PDF using Preview and the file size actually grew to 21 mb. Odd that, perhaps.
I exported the file to PNG 300 pixels/inches with Preview, and file size cut in half. Quite a change downward. That file look great on my screen.
Something with the PDF I suspect but I don’t have tools to investigate further.
Thanks for looking at this!
Like so often with the computers the “car trick” worked: Getting out the car, jumping back in und starting the engine again – and now the PDF opens.
The PDF is indeed a weird one:It loads very slowly for a medium complex one-pager.
