Photostickies stopped working this morning

Good morning,

I have been using Photostickies for ages… but it stopped working this morning. It loads, but doesn’t display anything on the desktop. When starting it in Termnial, I receive the following message: “2025-10-06 11:02:26.369 PhotoStickies[2590:29101] WARNING: AVCaptureDeviceTypeExternal is deprecated for Continuity Cameras. Please use AVCaptureDeviceTypeContinuityCamera and add NSCameraUseContinuityCameraDeviceType to your Info.plist.”. I’m on Sequoia 15.7.1. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated! Many thanks in advance.

PS: I have just realised that Photostickies also stopped running on my other Mac, which is still running Monterey 12.7.6, so it would appear that this isn’t a problem linked to updates to the OS. Very odd, in any case.

And what exactly is it supposed to show? E.g. local images or remote webcams? Did you update macOS today or recently?

Photostickies is set to show local images only on both my computers.

The Mac running Sequoia was updated to version 15.7.1 a couple of days ago; the Mac running Monterey has obviously not been updated for a while (it’s too old to run the latest versions of macOS).

And does opening local images (see File menu) still work?

Apologies, I should have thought of that…

Not only can I open files, but I can save new states with the same images as before. For some reason none of my old states work (even when I download them from a backup), but new states work perfectly.

I’m not sure what could have caused my old states to have become corrupted at the same time on both computers, but that seems to be the situation. I can still read the plist files, so I’ve been able to restore my images to the same size and position as before.

I’m not sure if you have any idea as to what could have happened, but thank you for your prompt assistance and help in restoring my configuration.

Do you use multiple monitors?

No.
