Problems with Rulers

Hi Devon-Users / Develops…

I am testing DT4, but all my tryings to get USE-SPACE the whole SPACE-WIDE-Side in text/rtf… files, i cant figure it, how to do? I tried to set rulers from whole left to right… buts imopssibel.

See the schreenhot and look at rulers — maybe you understand my problem.

And please, give a step-by-step solution tio this issue-”feature” - I want the WHOLE space between the 2 Inspectors/file manger as USE text - area!

See Settings > Editing > Format > Margins

Do you mean the cmd+Comata Settings?

There is no …. > Editing > Format > Margins

I have just this settings…

Rand.

And why do you have Max. Zeilenbreite / Max. Line Width set to its minimum? If you want to use the fullest width of the view/edit pane, you’d logically allow the maximum number of characters per line.

Ah, oki… “Max line wide” set to maxium was my misstake!

Now its how i (as a beginner its almost) wish! Why this curios default?

Thank you!

While you may have a personal preference for long lines of text, scientific studies have shown that this is not optimal for most people. Generally speaking, a maximum line length of 50-75 characters is preferred, as this reduces cognitive load. See this article:

OK. Its a point!

But i (a lot of guys…) does use DT in Fullscreen, jutst half of screen, and with Naviagator left/ Inspector right … its not so much space…

And default was Zero, not 75%!

But however- im thankfully that i can option this settings to my “defaults”!

With your help! Thank you folks!

And you base that statement on what, exactly?

I doubt that. I never changed this setting, and it is definitely not zero.
