Problems with "Show in Finder"

I am using DEVONthink 3.9.3 on a MacBook Pro running Ventura 13.5.2.

Since a few months, the “Show in Finder” function no longer works. When I right-click on a file and select show in finder, a finder window opens, but it does not show the selected document in its directory, but it always shows only my home directory.

Please help! Thanks!

Is a verification of the database successful? And do you use indexed or imported items?

I use imported files. And I verified the database and checked integrity - all good.

Where is your home directory?

What do you mean? It is /Users/vollmer, and the databases are in /Users/vollmer/Documents/Devon/

And is the home directory on the internal boot drive?

Yes, it is.

And as said above, it worked fine until 3-4 months ago.

What changed on your computer 3-4 months ago?

I use Show in Finder often on pretty much the same setup as the OP. Show in Finder works fine for me.

Indeed, it’s not a widespread problem.

I have just started experiencing the same problem. Selecting “Show in Finder” on any file in DevonThink opens my home directory (Computer/Harddrive/Users/sroka) instead of the director of the file. I have tried verifying and optimizing the database, to no effect.

Curious if you ever found a reason for this?

I’ll send you a bug report.

Where is the file actually located? Do you use a Finder alternative like Path Finder?

Ticket forwarded to you. Desktop and Documents are local.

  • Are you indexing files into the database?
    • If so, from where?

These are RTF files created in DevonThink. So, they are stored within the database.

I’ll reply to the support ticket. Thanks!
