Quick(er) way to access the Inbox?

Some months ago I started using DTP3 as my all-in-one tool with tax management, Zettelkasten, library, everything-bucket etc. Before that, I was merely doing literature research in DT (which was the perfect use case but I’ve seen several workflows here that got me interested in moving everything to DT and I haven’t looked back since).

However, as I use a combination of Hazel and DTP to rename files based on their content and let them be filed automatically into my Inbox (or leave them in the downloads folder to be cleaned up after a day), I often found the issue that I needed to open a new window and navigate to DT’s global inbox manually while working on a specific item. Although I use Paletro to quickly access items in Favourites (such as my inbox), there are still several steps involved that distract me from my task at hand. Also, I have constructed a dedicated workspace but I only activate that when I am clearing my inboxes as it closes all other open windows.

Is there

  1. a shortcut/workflow that I didn’t know of? (using DT since 2012 I haven’t come across such a built-in shortcut to quickly access inbox items without leaving the particular group I am working on)
  2. a suggested workflow that others use for such a scenario?
  3. the possibility for development to implement a quick access to the Inbox via a popup, sticky window or even as addition to the sorter or a sidebar list?

In the worst case I might build a Keyboard Maestro workflow to cope with the issue but I’d rather not block more possible and practical keyboard shortcuts than I already have that I didn’t know of yet and that are defined somewhere deep in DT.

The way I do it, if I get your description, is to open a second (and third, fourth, or more) DEVONthink Window, size and position to see all, open the other important Groups, and then just flip between with a mouse click (or keyboard switch).

Thank you! That is also my current workflow but I was hoping for something more direct  probably there isn’t anything (yet)

“Eyes of the beholder”, I guess. Use macOS as designed without need for fancier stuff and add-in products seems pretty direct to me. Oh well.

Edit: perhaps keep the window that has the other group(s) displayed opened and not closing them prematurely.

Sorry, English is my second language, maybe ‚immediate‘ or ‚unobtrusive‘ (though I’m not sure about that term here) would fit better?
