The Safari Extension disappeared from the Extensions panel after upgrading to MacOS 26.
After investigations, the permission had not been given to DEVONthink in the Privacy & Security > Automation setting.
I have fixed that now, but the DT Extension is not appearing in the extension panel. How might I reinstall the extension? If I have to reinstall DT4, how do I preserve my databases and settings?
Just download the app from our website (DEVONtechnologies | Apps) and replace the installed application with the downloaded one.
P.S:
The extension is just another possibility to open the Sorter’s Web Clip tab. Other possibilities include a shortcut (see Settings > Sorter), sharing, bookmarklets or opening the Sorter and selecting Safari in the Web Clip tab.
If you are referring to uninstalling and reinstalling, you shouldn’t be. That is rarely every needed and should not be considered an option early in troubleshooting.
No, that is not what is said in that post and in my follow-up, I specifically said…

Download a new installer.
Unzip it.
Double-click the .dmg to mount it.
Drag and drop the application to the /Applications alias in the window, overwriting the currently installed version.
Control-click the window and eject the disk image.
Launch DEVONthink 4.
Go to Safari’s Settings > Extensions and enable our browser extension.
Just to add to this thread. I had the same problem yesterday and followed the instructions to reinstall. This brought back the extension and all was fine. When I restarted my laptop this morning the extension was again missing. I can use Firefox or Chrome for the moment. The same issue also affect the legacy version of the Reeder app extension. This is most likely related to the Safari extension as it returned to the Reeder app last night but is now gone again.
