Releasing a Seat - Licensing Clarification

While troubleshooting a corrupted database, I deleted the DTTG 4 app without releasing the seat, so now the same device is registered twice. My software license page currently states:

For Macs, there is one free seat available, for iOS devices, no free seats. You can release up to 5 seats. Only seats registered at least five days ago can be released.

Specifically for “release up to 5 seats” - what does this mean? Can I only release 5 seats for my license per year? Or per day? Or for the duration of my license renewal? Or … something else?

Welcome @PNW-Steven

While troubleshooting a corrupted database,

What would lead you to this conclusion (which would actually be highly unusual, if it were true) ?

Specifically for “release up to 5 seats” - what does this mean? Can I only release 5 seats for my license per year ? Or per day? Or for the duration of my license renewal? Or … something else?

No, it’s not per year nor during your license period.
It’s stating how many seats you have in use and can therefore release.
Did you already deactivate a seat?

I have a Server license: 10 Mac seats (4 free, 6 used) and 25 mobile seats (21 free, 4 used), and mine says. So I have ten seats in use and this is what I see…

Thanks @BLUEFROG! Clearly I was thinking it would be more restrictive, but it’s simply the current status of how many devices can be released … d’oh!

Regarding the database - I had a group that disappeared, seemed to only occur on DTTG side of things. Verify & Repair resulted in an empty text file with the same name as the group, but did not restore the files. I tried to delete the database in DTTG, but it would only freeze the app and never actually delete the database. Deleting the app and re-downloading the database to my iPad fixed it :man_shrugging:

You’re welcome!
