"Reveal" malfunctioning and displaying an incorrect file location

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing an issue with ‘reveal’ function. Previously, when I used ‘reveal’ on a file located within a smart group, it would correctly show the file’s location within DEVONthink.

However, recently, performing the ‘reveal’ action on a file in a smart group incorrectly locates it elsewhere. It’s not showing the correct position of the file anymore.

Has anyone else encountered this, or does anyone have a solution?

I’ve seen no other reports of this.

  • Is DEVONthink 3 up to date?
  • What OS are you running?

Devonthink 3.9.14 and macOS Sequoia 15.6 public beta

And I tried deleting DEVONthink’s preferences using defaults delete com.devon-technologies.think3 , but it had no impact on the ‘reveal’ issue.

I’ve also tried restarting DT3 and rebooting the macbook , but neither helped.

I’m not seeing an issue here.

  • Is it happening with documents from a specific database, i.e., only this Information Flow database?
  • Have you done a File > Verify & Repair Database on your databases?

OK. Thanks for your reply!

I’ve already tried Repair Database, rebuild database, and reinstalling the app, but none of those worked.

However, I found that version 3.9.6 did not have the aforementioned issues, so it might be a problem with the macOS beta. I will temporarily use the older version and wait for the official macOS update.

You’re welcome!
I am running Sequoia 15.6 beta4, so while we don’t recommend people run a beta OS, it may not be involved in this case. Where is the problematic database located - the file path?

I store the database in one place, located at /Users/hkw/Databases.

It appears I’ve found the source of the problem:

If the file is located at database > inbox > …, the issue can be reproduced. However, if the file is located at database > …, the file(folder) can be revealed correctly.

What if you choose View > As List instead of Column view?

It didn’t work.

view > as icons works. Thank you for your assistance! For reference, here’s the related video.
