version: DEVONthink 4.2.2
os: Sonoma 14.8.5
Hello!
I recently upgrade from version 3 to 4, and noticed that Alignment in a Rich Text file does not display as expected with Wrap Lines off.
I don’t recall having issues with this in v3…
The alignment is respected if I open the same file in TextEdit.
Is there anything I’m missing?
p.s. this is my first time posting and it’s unfortunate that it’s about a potential issue, but I’ve been a user for a few years now since switching from Evernote. It was exactly the type of note taking app that I wanted. Thank you to everyone involved in developing this!

Thank you for the bug report (and the nice feedback of course too), we will investigate this.

It’s the same in version 3. Rich text alignment isn’t supported if wrapping of lines is disabled (as the lines are basically endless).

Ah that makes sense..
In that case, my real issue is that in DevonTHINK 4, line wrap produces a very narrow text centered in the screen with a lot of extra white space on the side, which causes the text to appear weird in some cases. In DevonTHINK 3, line wrap takes up the entire width:
Top is 4, bottom is 3
This was why I had to disable line wrap, which then led to this alignment topic.
I apologize for my inaccurate report, but is there a way to make line wrap wider like DevonTHINK 3 then? I have consulted the documentation before as well, but so far haven’t couldn’t find anything.
Any suggestion would be great. Thank!
The left margin on both screenshots doesn’t seem to be the same, see ruler.
Thank you. Hmm… sorry not sure if I quite follow. Both start from 0 on the left, and I get the same result even if I open the exact same file in both v4 and v3 (the screenshot above was different files with copy-pasted content, but I also tried it with the exact same file).
I had also been looking at ruler related documentation and have tried adjusting the ruler several times, including before posting this topic, but I could only move the left margin more in the positive direction, not get rid of the negative.
Please send me a zipped copy of the document and a screenshot of Settings > Editing > Format
Hi Christian, I think I got it while preparing the screenshot. It was the Max Line Width setting! How did I not see this before… Thank you and sorry for taking your time.
