What is the simplest / best / most straightforward way to save individual messages from Apple Mail to DT3?
Common scenario: I’m going through my new messages in the morning and come across a receipt for something I ordered online. I’d like add the receipt to DT3.
The only practical way I’ve found to do this is via Print > Save PDF to Devonthink 3.
This seems clunky. I feel like I must be missing some obviously better way to accomplish this from within the Mail app.
If you’re using the Pro or Server edition, the simplest and most straightforward way is to just drag and drop from Apple Mail into your DEVONthink database.

There are several ways of doing this. One is the way you described.
Another way is to enable the scripts menu in the macOS main menu bar. You can display this menu by opening the Script Editor and in Settings select “show script menu in menu bar”. When you are in Apple Mail, several scripts will show, one of which is “Add attachments to Devonthink”.
A third way is just to drag and drop the attachment from Mail onto the DEVONthink dock icon. Depending on your DT settings it should show in the Inbox or what destination you set in files->import tab. @BLUEFROG beat me to it.

Thanks for your help … again.
Is there a way of retaining the formatting while using this method? Most messages lose graphic elements and some lose so much of their format that they are nearly unreadable.
You’re welcome!
Nothing is missing in the email. You’re likely looking at the email in View > Document Display > Text Alternative instead of Best Alternative which displays the QuickLook view. Also, you may need to enable Settings > Files > Emails > Load remote images in messages.
Thanks. I eventually figured that out, by reading some of the manual of all things. Go figure.
I also found that you can open the message in the Mail app, which restores all the formatting. So, it’s much much, more useful that I initially thought.
