I am switching from a ScanSnap Document Scanner to a networked scanner and a Synology (network storage) box. I would like DevonThink to OCR & Import & Delete the files that are placed in the folder on the network storage device.
There are a lot of old posts where people have asked questions like this. I am trying to work out the correct way to do this with the current (latest 2.75) software.
Create the folder you want to receive the documents from your scanner. DEVONthink > Install Add Ons… --> ensure you have installed the DEVONthink folder actions
In Finder, select the target folder, and from the contextual menu choose Services > Folder Actions Setup
In the Folder Actions dialog, choose DEVONthink - Import, OCR & Delete.scpt
That action will import to the “incoming group”, which is configured in DEVONthink > Preferences > Import > Destination. If one of those settings is not useful, then the script can be customized for your needs. There are several postings in the forum that explain how to do that.
