From what I understand, if I want to search for something in a single site, I have to enter that site (and only that one) in the Sites tab of the Search Set. That’s what I do. However, if I run the search according to the first four windows shown below, I get one entry for the desired site (www.dzone.com) and 11 more from other sites.
After the above, I created a plugin containing only the site’s URL (www.dzone.com). I changed the search set to contain only that plugin (i.e., I removed the Web plugin). However, in this situation, the search returns 0 results even if www.dzone.com has a page that meets the search criteria.
Is what I said above about searching in a single site correct? Is there anything extra I should do to search in a single site?
From your answer, I deduce that if I have dzone.com as the only entry in the Sites tab and Web selected in the Plugins tab, DAP will search not only in dzone.com but in some other websites too. Is my assumption correct? If this is the case, what is the purpose of the Sites tab?
On the other hand, if Web is the only selection in the Plugins tab, DAP finds a page on dzone.com. However, if I deselect Web and add my own plugin associated with dzone.com, it doesn’t find any pages. Why is this?
What I really want to know is how to make DAP search only a specific number of websites without returning results from the rest. Whether it’s just one site, as in the case I’ve outlined, or multiple sites.
I’ve followed the guidelines you provide: in the Sites tab, I enter https://www.scala-lang.org, and in the Plugins tab, I select nothing. Every time I try a search, I get 0 results. DAP doesn’t even attempt to search; as soon as I press the Start button, the results window appears with the 0 results mentioned.
Obviously, I’m missing something, but I can’t figure out what it is
Several different ones. First, I did a search with only one word, for instance, class, object, Scala, … and then something a little more complicated like bounds for type variables, …
I just read this reply and the first thing I did was to run again the queries that failed yesterday. They worked today!!! I haven’t changed anything. I assume it was an internal issue since, as I mentioned before, DAP wasn’t even trying to search. After clicking the Start button, it simply said there were 0 matches.
I downloaded your Search Set and it was exactly the same as mine.
Thank you very much for the help. It was efficient and quick.
